Interested applicants should know that, applicants must be able to read, write as well as speak Odia, in addition to must satisfy at least one of the following:

According to the latest notice, Passed Middle School Examination with Odia as a language subject; or

According to the latest notice, Passed Matriculation or an equivalent examination with Odia as the medium of examination in a non-language subject; or

Passed Odia as a language subject in the final examination of Class VII from a School or Educational Institution recognised by the Government of Odisha or the Central Government; or

Passed a test in Odia at Middle English School Standard, conducted by the School & Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha, or the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.

Other Eligibility Conditions

According to the latest notice, Must be a citizen of India.

Must be of sound mental condition as well as bodily health, free from any physical or mental defect likely to interfere with the discharge of duties (this provision does not submit to physically handicapped applicants ); every chosen candidate will be examined by a Medical Board.

A candidate with more than one living spouse is not meeting criteria unless exempted by the State Government for good along with sufficient reasons.

Candidates should note that, Serving Government servants (temporary or permanent) are meeting criteria if they meet the age in addition to qualification criteria, although must inform their Head of Office in writing in addition to furnish a No Objection Certificate at the time of document verification.

OPSC AAE Selection Process

Selection is through a competitive examination comprising a Written Examination followed by a Personality Test (Interview).

Written Examination (200 Marks)

Both papers are Objective Type (MCQ) with OMR-based evaluation; each question carries 1 mark.

Negative marking: 25% of the marks allotted to a question is deducted for each wrong answer; unattempted questions receive zero marks.

The Commission will fix qualifying marks for each paper in addition to/or in aggregate, category-wise.

test-takers meeting the qualifying marks are shortlisted for the Personality Test in a ratio of about 1:2 of the advertised openings (category-wise), subject to a minimum of 5 test-takers per category.

Personality Test / Interview

Paper-II, Section B (Soil & Water Conservation Engineering): Fluid mechanics, irrigation engineering, drainage engineering, groundwater/wells/pumps, hydrology, soil & water conservation engineering as well as watershed management.

Important Conditions

Reservation for SC/ST (by birth) along with SEBC is admissible only to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes as well as Socially & Educationally Backward Classes of Odisha.

Women test-takers belonging to SEBC/SC/ST must submit caste certificates showing "daughter of"; certificates by virtue of marriage ("wife of") are not acceptable.

OBC certificates will not be accepted in lieu of an SEBC certificate.

Community/caste status once mentioned in the online application cannot be changed under any circumstances.

In case of non-availability of eligible women aspirants in a category, unfilled openings will be filled by meeting criteria male aspirants of the same category; exchange of reservation between SC in addition to ST is not permitted.
