The conducting body has announced that, Only OTR (One Time Registration) applications will be accepted for the Stenographer post, along with only aspirants meeting criteria to appear for the Stenographer Exam-2026 may register.
NPSC Stenographer Vacancy 2026
NPSC has published a total of 27 posts for the post of Stenographer (Grade-III), comprising 3 backlog posts (Backlog openings : 2021) along with 24 fresh openings across various departments of the Government of Nagaland.
Aspirants are advised that, "B.T." refers to Backward Tribe categories under Nagaland's reservation policy. In the absence of PwBD test-takers, the 3 backlog openings of 2021 shall be de-reserved.

NPSC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria
Interested applicants should know that, Applicants must fulfil the following qualification conditions to submit for all Item Nos. 1 to 12 under NPSC Stenographer Recruitment 2026.
Only those test-takers who possess the requisite qualification acquired from a recognized university/institution at the time of applying are meeting criteria . The required shorthand speed (w.p.m.) must be mentioned either on the mark sheet or in the completion certificate.

Aspirants are advised that, Age is reckoned as on 01.01.2026.
Minimum Age: 21 years
Maximum Age: 32 years
The department has confirmed that, Age Relaxation:
SC/ST applicants : Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years
Serving Government employees: Age concession equal to the number of years in service, up to a maximum of 5 years
NPSC Stenographer Reservation Policy
100% of the openings are reserved for applicants belonging to (a) Any Naga Tribe, (b) Kuki, (c) Kachari, (d) Garo, as well as (e) Mikir, provided such persons are Indigenous Inhabitants of the State of Nagaland.
The official notification states that, Implementation of reservation for Backward Tribes in the state is in accordance with Notification No. RCBT-5/87(pt-II) dated 14 April 2011, 15 June 2012 & 23 March 2022.
Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disability, wherever applicable as sanctioned by the user department, is in accordance with Government Notification No. AR-3/Gen-9/97 dated 13 August 2020, No. AR-8/NSSB-9/2022/57 dated 5 May 2022, in addition to No. AR-3/Gen-9/97(Vol-II) dated 8 December 2025.
For availing reservation under Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (fresh posts ), Form C, Form D along with Form E are mandated as per Notification No. AR-3/GEN-9/97 dated 13 August 2020.
How to Apply for NPSC Stenographer Recruitment 2026
The official notification states that, Browse the government NPSC portal: https://npsc.nagaland.gov.in
Full OTR (One Time Registration), available from noon of 21.08.2026 till noon of 02.09.2026 (free of cost) - only meeting criteria applicants for the Stenographer Exam-2026 should register.
After completing OTR, submit the online application document for the Stenographer post between noon of 21.08.2026 as well as noon of 03.09.2026.
Interested applicants should know that, Government employees must upload a "No Objection Certificate" while submitting the online application.
Pay the applicable examination fee (Rs. 300/-), convenience fee (Rs. 25/-), as well as payment gateway charges online.
Note: Application forms will not be issued from the office of the Commission; applications must be submitted only through the online OTR process on the NPSC portal.
NPSC Stenographer Important Instructions
The conducting body has announced that, test-takers must produce attested/self-attested photocopies of documents to the Commission as along with when called for, including HSLC/Matriculation/Equivalent Hall ticket for proof of Date of Birth (no other certificate accepted for age proof).
The official notification states that, Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate, Scheduled Tribe Certificate, along with Backward Tribe Certificate, as relevant in addition to applicable, must be produced.
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBDs) must produce a certificate from a competent medical authority.
Proof of educational qualification (mark sheets, pass certificates/provisional pass certificates from matriculation onwards) must be submitted; if not issued, a supporting letter/certificate from the Board/Institute/University is required.
The department has confirmed that, All relevant documents/certificates must have been issued by the concerned authority/institution/board/university on or before the closing date of submission of the online form.
Indigenous Inhabitant, S.C., S.T. & B.T. Certificates should be signed only by a District Authority not below the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner.
If it is detected at any stage of recruitment that a candidate does not fulfil the qualification norms, or has furnished incorrect/false information or suppressed material facts, the candidature shall stand cancelled.
The decision of the Commission in all matters regarding qualification , conduct of examination, other tests, in addition to selection would be final in addition to binding on all test-takers; no representation or correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
Any issue/complaint must be settled on or before the closing date of submission of the online form; no complaints will be entertained thereafter.
