Qualification
Master's Degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently-abled categories or PhD holders who obtained their Master's degree prior to 19 September 1991), OR an equivalent point-scale grade from an Indian university or accredited foreign university, in a concerned/relevant/allied subject. | Candidates must additionally have cleared NET (UGC/CSIR) or an equivalent SLET/SET test. | Candidates who hold or have been awarded a PhD under UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/PhD) Regulations 2009 or 2016 may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET, subject to conditions including: PhD awarded in regular mode by a recognized university; thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners; an open PhD viva voce conducted; at least two published research papers (one in a refereed journal); and at least two conference/seminar papers presented, certified by the Registrar or Dean (Academic Affairs) of the concerned university. | Alternatively, a PhD from a foreign university/institution ranked in the world's top 500 by QS, THE, or ARWU (Shanghai) is also accepted. | NET/SLET/SET is not required for Master's disciplines in which UGC/CSIR/similar bodies do not conduct these tests. | Same Master's-with-NET/PhD route as above in a relevant subject, OR | Recognition as a traditional and professional artist of high standing, having studied under noted/reputed traditional masters, holding "A" grade artist status with AIR/Doordarshan, with the ability to explain the logical reasoning of the subject and adequate knowledge to teach theory with illustrations. | Master's Degree in a relevant subject with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/Differently-abled candidates and PhD holders whose Master's was awarded before 19 September 1991), from an Indian university or an equivalent foreign degree. | Must have cleared NET/SLET/SET, or hold a qualifying PhD under UGC 2009/2016 regulations (subject to the same conditions listed above), or hold a PhD from a foreign university ranked in the world's top 500 (QS/THE/ARWU). | Master's Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or Documentation Science (or an equivalent professional degree) with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently-abled categories/PhD holders whose Master's was obtained before 19 September 1991), OR an equivalent point-scale grade. | A consistently good academic record and knowledge of computerisation of libraries. | Must have cleared NET (UGC/CSIR) or an equivalent SLET/SET, or hold a qualifying PhD under the applicable UGC regulations (subject to conditions similar to those listed for Assistant Professor). | Master's Degree in Physical Education and Sports, Physical Education, or Sports Science with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently-abled categories), or an equivalent point-scale grade, AND a record of representing the university/college at inter-university/inter-collegiate competitions at state and/or national level. | Must have cleared NET/SLET/SET, or hold a qualifying PhD (subject to conditions similar to those listed above for Assistant Professor). | OR - an Asian Games or Commonwealth Games medal winner with at least a postgraduate degree. | Candidates must also pass a physical fitness test conducted as per UGC Regulations 2018.
