Educational Qualification
Aspirants are advised that, Administrative Assistant / Scientific Administrative Assistant / Field Worker: Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized institute/University.
Project Assistant (Science-based projects): Bachelor's Degree in Science (Wildlife Science, Zoology, Ecology, Marine Sciences, Marine Biology, Environmental Sciences, Geoinformatics, Life Sciences, Agricultural or Forestry Sciences).
Project Assistant (Social Science): Bachelor's Degree in any Social Science discipline (Geography, Statistics, Economics, Public Administration, Personnel Management, Environmental Management, Social Work, Anthropology).
Project Associate-I: Four-Year Bachelor's Degree (as per NEP) or Master's Degree in Natural Sciences (Wildlife Science, Zoology, Ecology, Marine Sciences/Biology, Environmental Sciences, Geoinformatics, Life Sciences)/Agricultural/Forestry Sciences, OR Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science.
Project Associate-II: Four-Year Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Natural Sciences/Agricultural Sciences with 2 years' relevant R&D experience, OR BVSc with 2 years' experience, OR Bachelor's in Engineering/Technology (CS/IT/Remote Sensing/GIS/Data/Electrical/Electronics/AI) with 2 years' experience.
Senior Project Associate: Four-Year Bachelor's Degree with 4 years' R&D experience, OR Master's Degree with 4 years' R&D experience, OR a Doctoral Degree in Wildlife Science/Zoology/Ecology/Life Sciences.
Desirable qualifications (such as prior field experience, GIS software knowledge, publications, or regional preference for aspirants from Andaman & Nicobar Islands) differ by project. Refer to the department notice for the exact desirable criteria of each post.

Project Assistant: ₹27,000 + HRA
According to the latest notice, Project Associate-I: ₹37,000 + HRA (NET/GATE picked) or ₹30,000 + HRA (Non-NET/GATE)
Project Associate-II: ₹42,000 + HRA (NET/GATE picked) or ₹33,000 + HRA (Non-NET/GATE)
Senior Project Associate: ₹57,000 + HRA

WII Recruitment 2026: Selection Process
According to the latest notice, Shortlisting for the online interview is based on essential qualification, age limit, percentage of marks, specialization relevance, research experience, along with publications. The scoring pattern differs by post category:
a) Field/Lab/Project Assistant Category (Total: 50 Marks)
As per the official update, % Marks in Bachelor's Degree: 25 Marks
Specialization relevance to the project (via internship, volunteering, or work experience): 25 Marks
b) Project Associate-I Category (Total: 50 Marks)
% Marks in Master's Degree: 25 Marks
Specialization relevance to the project: 25 Marks
c) Project Associate-II / Senior Project Associate / Principal Project Associate / Project Scientist Category (Total: 50 Marks)
UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET with JRF or WII-NET Passed: 5 Marks
% Marks in Post-Graduation: 25 Marks
Research/Work Experience: 10 Marks
Publications (journals, conferences, book chapters): 10 Marks
The top 10 shortlisted test-takers for each advertised project/position will be called for an online interview. The Institute's decision on qualification , shortlisting, along with selection is final in addition to binding. Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call.
