Eligibility Criteria (Post-Wise Summary)
1. Agricultural Engineer
Qualification: Degree in Agricultural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university, with 2 years’ experience in testing/evaluation of agricultural machinery, or 2 years’ teaching/training experience in operation/maintenance of tractors as well as agricultural implements. Age limit: 33 years (OBC).
2. Medical Officer/Research Officer (Unani)
Qualification: Degree in Unani Medicine from a recognized university/board recognized under the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970, with enrolment on the Central/State Register of Indian Medicine. Age limit: 35 years (UR/EWS), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC).
3–7. Scientist ‘B’ (Botany/Environmental Science/Geology/Physics/Zoology)
Qualification: Master’s Degree in the respective discipline from a recognized university, with 3 years’ research experience after acquiring the essential qualification. PhD along with lab experience in conservation/non-destructive testing are desirable. Age limit: 35 years (UR), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC).
8. Civilian Medical Officer
Aspirants are advised that, Qualification: Recognized MBBS degree with completion of compulsory rotating internship. Post-graduate medical qualification is desirable. Age limit: 35 years (UR/EWS), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC/ST).
9. Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (Immuno-Haematology and Blood Transfusion)
Qualification: MBBS with a postgraduate degree/diploma (MD/DNB) in Immunology, Immuno-Haematology in addition to Blood Transfusion, Pathology, Bacteriology or Haematology with relevant special training, plus at least 3 years’ teaching experience as Senior Resident/Tutor/Registrar/Assistant Professor. Age limit: 40 years (UR), 43 years (OBC).
10. Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (Surgical Oncology)
Qualification: MBBS with a postgraduate degree/diploma in Surgical Oncology or General Surgery/ENT/Orthopaedics/Obst. & Gynae with special training in Surgical Oncology, plus at least 3 years’ teaching experience. Age limit: 43 years (OBC).
11. Assistant Industrial Adviser
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical/Metallurgical/Electronics & Communication Engineering, with 3 years’ experience in steel works/rolling mills/plant machinery manufacturing or in iron & steel production, planning, development along with research. Age limit: 35 years (UR).
12. Veterinary Assistant Surgeon
Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science along with Animal Husbandry/Veterinary Science, registered with the Veterinary Council of India or a State/UT Veterinary Council. Knowledge of Tamil, Malayalam or Telugu is an advantage. Age limit: 35 years (UR), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC).
Note: Age relaxation of up to 10 years is available for PwBD applicants , up to 5 years for SC/ST along with up to 3 years for OBC as applicable, along with other relaxations for Ex-Servicemen in addition to Central/UT Government employees register as per UPSC rules.
UPSC Recruitment 2026: Age Limit
The upper age limit varies by post as well as category, ranging from 33 to 43 years as on the closing date for submission of the online application (the crucial date for determining age limit). Age relaxation of up to 10 years is available for PwBD aspirants for posts identified as suitable or reserved for them.
UPSC Recruitment 2026: Salary / Pay Scale
Chosen aspirants will be placed in Pay Level-07, Level-10, or Level-11 of the Pay Matrix in line with the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC), depending on the post. Several posts furthermore carry Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) in addition to the basic pay.
