RRC Central Railway Recruitment 2026 Overview

Vacancy Details

Candidates should note that, A total of 12 posts are notified under the Scouts along with Guides quota for 2026-27:

The notification clarifies that these opening numbers are provisional in addition to may increase, decrease, or even become NIL depending on the actual requirements of the Railway administration.

Eligibility (Nationality)

A candidate for appointment must be:

A citizen of India, or

A citizen of Nepal, or

The conducting body has announced that, A subject of Bhutan, or

A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

As per the official update, A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

The official notification states that, Aspirants belonging to the last four categories must possess a certificate of requirements issued by the Government of India. Such applicants may sit for the exam, although the appointment offer is given only after the certificate is issued.

The department has confirmed that, Applicants can submit for both Level 1 as well as Level 2, provided they meet the qualification criteria for each. Separate online applications in addition to separate examination fees are required for each level, in addition to separate examinations will be conducted.

Educational Qualification

According to the latest notice, test-takers appointed to the Clerk-cum-Typist category must acquire typing proficiency of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi within two years of appointment; their appointment remains provisional until then.

Scouts and Guides Qualification (For Both Level 1 and Level 2)

Must hold a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger award, or a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) in any section.

Must have been an active member of a Scouts organisation for the last 5 years (inclusive of financial year 2021-22 onwards), supported by a Certificate of Activeness as per Annexure A.

The official notification states that, Must have attended two events at National Level or All India Railways level, IN ADDITION TO two events at State level.

Age Limit

The lower along with upper age limits are reckoned as on 01/01/2027.

Upper Age Relaxation

Interested applicants should know that, SC/ST applicants : 5 years

OBC aspirants : 3 years

Ex-servicemen: length of Defence service plus 3 years, provided they completed more than 6 months of service after attestation

As per the official update, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years for UR, 13 years for OBC, 15 years for SC/ST

Widows, divorced women, in addition to women judicially separated from husband (not remarried): up to 35 years (UR), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC/ST)

Staff of Railway Quasi-Administrative Offices (Canteens, Co-operative Societies, Institutions): relaxation equal to broken-spell service rendered, up to a maximum of 5 years

Serving Level-1 Railway staff, Casual Labour in addition to Substitutes applying for Level-2 (minimum 3 years of continuous or broken-spell service): up to 40 years (UR), 45 years (SC/ST), 43 years (OBC)

Candidates should note that, Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAA) applying for Level-1: 33 years (UR), 36 years (OBC), 38 years (SC/ST), plus apprenticeship training period undergone under the Apprentice Act 1961, subject to a maximum of 3 years

CCAA applying for Level-2: 30 years (UR), 33 years (OBC), 35 years (SC/ST), plus apprenticeship training period, subject to a maximum of 3 years

Important Dates

As per the official update, The pen- in addition to-paper exam date, venue along with e-call letter release date are not mentioned in the departmental circular. RRC states these will be intimated separately to meeting criteria aspirants .

Application Fee

Fee must be paid online through the payment gateway integrated with the application, using debit card, credit card, or internet banking.

No changes are allowed to the application after fee payment.

Fee paid by ineligible applicants who still submit will not be refunded.

Minority test-takers (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Zoroastrians/Parsis) claiming fee exemption must submit a self-declaration (Annexure B) as well as a minority community affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper at the time of document verification.

The official notification states that, EBC means aspirants with a family income of less than Rs. 50,000/- per annum, supported by an income certificate (Annexure C) from an authorised issuing authority.

Selection Process

Selection is based on a Pen- along with -paper exam (CBT/TAB mode) followed by marks awarded on certificates during document verification. test-takers who score a minimum of 40% marks in the Descriptive test, to the extent of 2.5 times the number of openings , will be called for the next stage. There is no interview.

Marks Distribution (Total: 100 Marks)

(A) Written Test - 60 Marks

According to the latest notice, 40 Objective Questions carrying 40 marks (CBT/TAB mode)

1 Essay Type Question carrying 20 marks, based on the Scouts in addition to Guides Organisation, its activities, along with General Knowledge

Negative marking applies to objective questions: 1/3rd of the marks allotted is deducted for every wrong answer

Candidates should note that, Test duration: 60 minutes

The conducting body has announced that, Question paper is set in English in addition to Hindi

(B) Marks on Certificates - 40 Marks

Interested applicants should know that, All certificates, including those used for minimum criteria as well as for awarding marks, must be uploaded on the portal. Certificates not uploaded at the time of application will not be entertained during document verification.

Syllabus for Written Test

How to Apply for RRC Central Railway Recruitment 2026

As per the official update, Access the government RRC Central Railway website: www.rrccr.com

Log in as well as fill the online application with personal details in addition to bio-data carefully.

Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar Card number. applicants without an Aadhaar Card yet who have enrolled can use the 28-digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID. Chosen male aspirants who are finally appointed are liable for active service in the Railway Engineers' Unit of Territorial Army.

Serving Defence Personnel likely to be made available within one year of the closing date (12/08/2026) can additionally submit .

applicants already employed in PSU/Government organisations must produce a "No Objection Certificate" from their employer at Document Verification.

test-takers debarred for life, or for a period not yet completed, from any RRB/RRC examination must not register .

Appointment is subject to passing the requisite Medical Fitness Test as well as verification of educational, community, as well as character/antecedent records.
